Welcome
Find yourself in a place apart: A glorious land of pristine mountain wilderness and wide horizons where real cowboys, good neighbors, and the western spirit still thrive. Life here is easy and authentic - The perfect setting for a remarkable Rocky Mountain golf community, The Powder Horn.
The Powder Horn
The centerpiece of The Powder Horn is the nationally recognized 27-hole championship golf course. The original eighteen holes opened in 1997, followed by the addition of a new nine holes that opened in 2002. Noted for its three distinct nines, The Powder Horn Golf Course will challenge your shot making abilities and test your putting stroke on the smooth bentgrass greens. With five sets of tees to choose from, the well manicured grounds of the golf course are playable for golfers on any level. The golf course offers many spectacular views and every measure was taken to preserve the natural beauty this land has to offer.
The Powder Horn Golf Course has received national recognition and has been named one of:

With a nod to the game’s mecca, St. Andrews, the Mountain Nine features a small replica of the famous Swilcan Burn Bridge, as well as large greens, 30 sizeable sand bunkers and the open rolling terrain of a Scottish links course. Woods and wetlands surround the Old Red Barn to create target golf with Old West flair on the Stag Nine. The Eagle Nine rounds out the course, offering surprising length and creative shots within a mix of meadow and creek-side terrain. The Powder Horn also boasts two practice facilities featuring a multi-tiered putting green, large tees and short-game areas.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPER
Homer A. Scott, Jr., Developer of The Powder Horn, has lived in the Sheridan, Wyoming and Northern Rocky Mountain Region most of his life. He spent 15 years working for the Peter Kiewit Company following graduation from college and is now engaged in the banking and hospitality business in Wyoming and Montana.
The Powder Horn is Mr. Scott's realization of a long-time desire to develop a premiere residential golf community located near the beautiful Big Horn Mountains. In the fall of 1993, Mr. Scott and his wife, Janet, were introduced to The Powder Horn and it was love at first sight. Seeing and experiencing the meandering tranquility of Little Goose Creek, along with the hills and high ground that afford such great views of the Big Horn Mountains, the dream began to take on a sense of reality. On October 1st, 1995, the first home site was sold at The Powder Horn, and in June of 1997, The Powder Horn Golf Course opened for play. Two generations of the Scott Family are now involved in the management and operations of The Powder Horn Golf Community.
