The Island
Sweet. How else do you describe a championship course carved out of a sugar plantation? As a matter of fact, sugar cane still grows in the field next to The Island. This par-72 course measures over 7,000 yards from its championship tees and features 54 bunkers. There are nine lakes on this challenging course, as well as Bayou Plaquemine and Bayou Jacob. Of the 18 holes, only one doesn’t bring water into play. Solitude is the name of the game at The Island. Most times, only a blue heron is around to watch your next shot. The Island Bar & Grill features exceptional Louisiana fare that attracts golfers and non-golfers alike.
Designed by Mike Young, The Island's 18-hole championship layout is becoming known by golfers around South Louisiana as the perfect destination for a quiet retreat or corporate outing. Recognized for their consistent quality, the Island is one of the twelve courses that make up Louisiana's Audubon Golf Trail, and the closest to Baton Rouge.
Recently featured on the Golf Channel and in Golf Magazine, this 160-acre Tif-Eagle course features nine man-made lakes and water comes into play on 17 of the 18 holes. This true championship course plays from the professional tees at 7010 yards. It is also very golfer friendly with tee placements for the average, senior and women golfers. The front nine is played clockwise and the back nine is played counterclockwise. The clubhouse overlooks 9 and 18 greens.
