The Blairgowrie Clubhouse

Blairgowrie members are justifiably proud of their magnificent clubhouse which dates back to 1939. It was designed by Perth architects Messrs. Smart, Stewart & Mitchell and was built for the then princely sum of £8,068! The clubhouse is synonymous with Blairgowrie Golf Club and is rightly acclaimed in all four corners of the golfing world. The local newspaper of the time described the new clubhouse thus, "The new building which has been erected on ground which used to be the last green of the old course is of two storeys and has a pleasing, well balanced appearance with large bow windows. Palatial does not exaggerate the internal appearance of the Clubhouse with main entrance opening from a spacious veranda into a large square hall giving access to a ladies lounge and a gentleman’s smoke room and bar".

The Club commissioned architects Oliver & Robb to design a complete facilities upgrade to remain in sympathy with the original clubhouse design which is instantly recognizable throughout the golfing world. The new clubhouse opened in May 2004 with the total project cost approaching £2.0 million.

Whilst the internal layout and facilities have been upgraded and modernised over the years, the building is no less impressive today having retained its distinctive and unique character.

No great clubhouse would be complete without a warm welcome at the bar and good food in fitting surroundings. Our head chef is on hand to serve up a mouth watering selection of appetising dishes. Special menus for visiting parties and special occasions are available on request, including vegetarian options. Check out the Catering page for details.

Fraser Rowan, our club steward, and his staff will be on hand to dispense drinks from our well stocked gantry.
